Keeping Up With the Traditionalists

Here at Casa Victoria, we love our mid-century just as much as the next guy--(after all, we are located in Silverlake, the hippest neighborhood in the US.) Anyone who is anyone knows that mid-century modern is "in" right now but that doesn't mean it's necessarily for you. Instead, you might find yourself craving something a little more traditional and that is totally fine--in fact, we are utterly enthused!

The great thing about Casa Victoria (besides our winning smiles) is that we have furniture that appeals to those traditional enthusiasts as well as their trendier counterparts.

Here is a look at a few of our more traditional items that just arrived in the store. Make sure to call the store at 323-644-5590 to see if the item is still available.

1948 Still Life by Alex Miller
1948 Still Life
Still life paintings often adorned ancient Egyptian tombs because they believed that the food objects and other items depicted, would become real to the deceased in the afterlife. In that case, will someone adorn my tomb with still life paintings depicting donuts and beer?

This incredible still life was signed by the artist Alex Miller and dated 1948. Though this primitive still life is nearly 65 years old, the beautiful colors still look absolutely vibrant within its original gold leaf frame.

SOLD | Lane to Rest - Vintage Lane Side Table

"The Gift That Starts the Home"

Lane Furniture was founded by John Lane and his son Ed Lane. Unsure of how their new business venture would be received by the consumer, they incorporated their chest company under the name "Standard Red Cedar Chest Company." Once they established credibility, the pair started producing occasional tables and other case goods in the 1950s under the name Lane.

This wooden side table has a pull out drawer and was crafted in Altavista, Virginia. After all these years, Lane Furniture remains one of the leading furniture manufacturers in the United States. Lane is stamped in the side drawer for authenticity.

Haeger Pottery

Alignment of the Planets

This art work depicts a man and woman sharing a very intimate moment. Legs intertwined, hands outstretched, heads bowed, and bodies bent inward toward one another.

Yin and Yang. Two peas in a pod. In sickness and in health.

This duo is melded to one another for life, by choice, yes, but also by the alignment of the planets and the pattern of the stars. Of course they fight, but when they are done cooling off, they are a force not to be reckoned with.

Haeger Potteries has been around since 1871. Four generations of Haegers have graced this planet with iconic imagery and they are still going strong. All Hager Pottery is produced in the USA. It is America's oldest and largest pottery production company.
